Work is goin smoothly. I’m still putting together the planning for the UltiPro / Active Directory project, and most importantly we need to get stakeholders aligned before we start creating the integration. That should happen sometime early next week hopefully. In the meantime, I’m meeting with the Solutions Architect to go over some of the documentation that I threw together. Hopefully I get some good feedback on that! We’re still working through the persona mapping, which should be wrapped up in a couple weeks. I handed off all the data to the Business Analyst and it’s in her court now. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
In the land of coding, I’ve finally starting putting together the role mapping app with ‘fake’ data using the FFaker gem and hosting the code on Github. It’s super exciting since it’s my first true Rails project. I’m pretty close to wrapping it up and should be finished with it either tomorrow or early next week. Most likely early next week. Once the role mapping project is complete, I believe I know my next project. It’s a bit of a secret at the moment since it’ll be hosting a product my girlfriend and I are creating. It’s pretty lighthearted, but a fun project as well. Plus, it has the potential to make some money if it takes off (we’ll see though). While I know that it’s my next web dev project, I still have to decide if Ruby and Rails will be the best architectural decisions. It’s costly to host a database and deploy, so I might just use a different solution. That might end up being WordPress. I’ll do some more research and update when the time comes.
