Today was split between two sessions: 1. finishing up the Google Homepage remake and 2. further introduction to Javascript. I’ll run through the Google Homepage part first since it was the most exciting.
I woke up extremely motivated to wrap up the Google Homepage, which you can find here. It was honestly so much fun to finish that up and have a sense of accomplishment. I guess that’s what is so awesome about web development (especially the front end). What you write is what you get. I wrapped that up around 11am before snagging a quick lunch.
The second half of the day was all Javascript. I’m not sure if it was the afternoon lull or going through another Codeacademy course, but it was definitely slow going (slower is faster, faster is better). So far Codeacademy has definitely been hit or miss and it might not be the best tool for me to learn from. But, any exposure is good exposure at this point. I’m about 40% through the introduction to Javascript course so I should wrap that up tomorrow. It’s all variables, comparison operators (>, <, >=, <=,===), logical operators (&&, ||, !=), and control flow (if/else if/else or switch/case statements) at this point. I’m very much looking forward to actually putting the Javascript learning to use sometime soon!
